in benghazi libya. the u.s. ambassador and three others were killed. the report slammed the state department for what it called systemic failures leading up to the attack. four senior level state department officials took the hit. one resigned, the other three put on administrative leave. how does this whole thing affect her legacy especially if she decides to run for president in 2016? allen lichtman joins us. the board did not blame the secretary but made clear there were problems high up at the state department. pretty damning. what's the impact on secretary clinton? >> pretty damning. to paraphrase harry truman, when you lead an organization like this in government, you're riding the tiger. well, the tiger didn't quite devour her but it took quite a bite out of her. can she recover before 2016? absolutely yes. this is not chap quick dick where the blame for a death seemed to fall squarely on senator kennedy. and really he never could recover from that. here the blame is spread far and wide. the commission did not pinpoint hillary clinton, and of course, the blame also falls on members of

and i still found myself in iraq, imagine that? and he's, both of them have records, set aside benghazi, set aside some of the recent events with susan rice and judgments on management of conflicts called into question and she was in the national security council back in 1993 when rwanda kicked off and she made a controversial comment about, well, if we call it a genocide and don't act. what will be the implications on the november mid term election? and if you hook at-- and then later on, reflexively supported the regime in ruwan da when there were more war crimes committed and since vowed to heal that, but, you know, you've seen her political statements recently that showed there's a political side of susan rice and willingness for talking points that we can't afford as secretary of state and john kerry, he was part of the foreign senate relations committee and he was back in the late 60's and talked about war crimes that he reportedly saw against the vietnam war and you have some track records that don't make them the best fit. >> there are numerous republicans, john mccain, lindsey

at the -- you know, in her term, leading the benghazi situation, and also tim geithner's numbers are so bad because of the terrible fiscal situation we're in. and i think susan rice, i think the president stood behind her, as long as he possibly could, and just couldn't stand behind her anymore. i think what we're seeing, already, with the hagel potential nomination, is i think a lot of the republicans are withholding their judgment. they are -- they don't like the way he was critical of the iraq situation. but many of them, what i'm hearing, is they're reserving judgment. but i think it is good for the administration to throw names out there. to see what kind of feedback they may be getting. but we all know that the nomination process is a tough one, no matter who is put out there to face the questions. >> alice, senator mike crapo of idaho was arrested this week in virginia, for dui, and he's found himself now back in the hometown newspaper in idaho, being compared, at least favorably, to former senator larry craig. listen to this and let's look at the words -- oh, i can't read it. all ri
